The man, 74, who was found dead in his residence at 22 Penn Drive in Dix Hills at approximately 6:15 p.m.
The man, Armindo Reis, lived alone in the residence, according to police.
When neighbors could not get in contact with him on Tuesday, they called his son, police said.
When Reis’ son arrived at the residence at approximately 6:15 p.m., he reportedly found his father unconscious and called 911, according to Suffolk Police.
When Second Precinct officers arrived at the scene, they found Reis had sustained a gunshot wound, said the report.
Reis, 74, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, according to police
